The concept of National Aquatics Week was established over ten years ago as a result of a National Aquatic Summit involving over 65 aquatic associations and organizations. Coordinated by the National Recreation and Park Association, this annual celebration acknowledges the contributions made by swimming facilities and aquatic programs in communities throughout the country by providing all ages with a healthy place to recreate, a place to learn and grow, to swim, and build self-esteem, confidence and sense of self-worth. This year National Aquatics Week will be celebrated from July 17 to 23.
