|JCPRD to host A Day in the Park event on June 1|
Johnson County Park & Recreation District will host a free, day-long celebration of the county’s trails, parks and recreational spaces on June 1.
There will be a variety of special activities for the entire family throughout Shawnee Mission Park and along the adjoining trail in Mill Creek Streamway Park. There also will be free admission to the beaches at Shawnee Mission and Kill Creek parks, and free pedal boat and canoe rentals at the marinas in both parks.
The Paws in the Park annual event is also part of A Day in the Park at Shawnee Mission Park. This free event allows pet owners to enjoy a morning at Shawnee Mission Park Beach with their dog, including organized water activities and an opportunity to swim with their dog from 9 a.m. to noon.
A Day in the Park also coincides with National Trails Day and also JCPRD’s annual free fishing weekend when both Kansas and district fishing and boating permits are waived.
