|Eighth Annual Fishing Rodeo for Kids 12 and Under is June 18|
The Eighth Annual Kids Fishing Rodeo at Shawnee Mission Park Lake, 7900 Renner Road, Shawnee, will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 18.
This event is free to the public and is being presented by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District and Crappie USA Inc. Kids ages 12 and under are invited to bring their mom and dad and participate. Search for the keyword "fishing" to find this program in the JCPRD's Activities Catalog and online listings.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m. at Shelter No. 3, near the Shawnee Mission Park Marina. The first 100 kids will receive a gift pack containing coupons and fishing supplies and qualify for a national drawing for a $5,000 scholarship. Fishing will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Prizes will be presented for the heaviest stringer and for big fish. Participants should bring their own bait and tackle.
Please remember length limits do apply, so please check park regulations. Also, anglers ages 16 to 64 will need the applicable Kansas and JCPRD fishing permits.
