In January, 1985, the opening of the Roeland Park Community Center was the start of a unique partnership between the Johnson County Park and Recreation District, the City of Roeland Park, and Johnson County Agency on Human Services and Aging. The relationship between JCPRD and the city was continued and expanded in 1997 with the dedication and opening of the RPAC, which is owned by the City of Roeland Park and operated by the District.
A number of other activities are planned on June 4 to celebrate the community center's anniversary including: tours of the Roeland Park Sports Dome, live music, a moonwalk, bingo, and children’s art projects, the dedication of a new mural in the Multipurpose Room, and a photo exhibit titled "The Faces of Roeland Park Community Center."
