Final Public Meeting on Stoll Park Master Plan is May 18
POSTED: 04/27/2005

The third and final public meeting on a new master plan for Thomas S. Stoll Memorial Park has been scheduled for May 18.

The meeting will take place in the Administration Building at Shawnee Mission Park, 7900 Renner Road, beginning at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday May 18 and will precede the District Board’s regular monthly business meeting, which will take place at 7 p.m. that evening, also in the Administration Building. During the later meeting, the Board is expected to consider formal approval of the Master Plan.

The proposed Stoll Park Master Plan will be presented for final public input during the 5:45 p.m. session.

The plan was developed and refined by Patti Banks and Associates based on public input received during previous public meetings on Dec. 11 and March 5.

Also on hand during the meeting will be a draft report prepared by the consulting firm which reviews the master plan process including issues which came up during the public meetings, site issues, the consultants' recommendations, and an 11' by 17" map with enumerated details.

Formulating new plans for existing JCPRD parks was a recommendation of the District's 20-year Master Action Plan, MAP 2020, which was put into place in 2001.

Following approval of the master plan, the consulting firm will prepare a phasing schedule for the proposed Stoll Park improvements, said Park Planner Megan Merryman.

"The first phase will most likely happen this fall and that's going to address the entry and possibly part of the path system and any serious safety issues that need to be addressed," she said.

The District has budgeted $100,000 for the first phase, including design services.
