POSTED: 09/20/2001
Carlene Todd of Parkville was recently named as the Johnson County Park and Recreation District's new 50 Plus Manager. She will start in the position on Oct. 1.

Prior to coming to the District, Todd served in numerous management positions, most recently with the YMCA for six years, where she served first as Executive Director of the Clay/Platte YMCA and later as Director of Corporate Connection and Member Services at the organization's Association Offices. Her other previous positions include about five years each as District Manager of Institutional Financing Services of Benecia, Calif., and as Program Director with St. Paul's Episcopal Day School, Kansas City, Mo. She holds bachelor's degrees in elementary education and home economics from Drury College of Springfield, Mo.

"I enjoy working with people and it was an opportunity to utilize my creativity to enhance lives and enhance the opportunities that our constituents can enjoy," Todd said of her new position. "My YMCA and program planning background in other positions I have held will certainly help me strengthen the things we do well and strengthen anything we feel is a weakness and tap into the incredible opportunities."

Todd will take over from Superintendent of Recreation Sharon Williams, who was promoted in early August to Superintendent of Recreation after serving as 50 Plus Manager for more than five years.
