Ages 4-6 can explore science themes with Mad Science Learning Lab beginning March 30
POSTED: 03/06/2013

Young scientists can explore a set of themes which will provide a well-rounded science experience during the next in a series of Mad Science Learning Labs being offered this fall by the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.

Early Learning Lab II is for ages four through six. Each of the five weekly 45-minutes sessions which make up this lab has a different theme. In Animal Friends, participants will learn how animals communicate, grow, and change during their lifespan. In Dinosaurs, students will experience a fossil dig and cast their very own T-Rex tooth. In Mad Mixtures, chemistry is the focus as participants experience intriguing chemical reactions. In Human Body, young scientists will discover their skeleton, heart, and lungs, and learn how they work. In the final program, Listen Closely, young scientists will become first-class astronauts as they focus on the solar system.

To find this program in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under preschool and then under hobbies & special interests. In the catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keyword “discovery.”

Early Learning Lab II will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday beginning March 30 at the Mill Creek Activity Center, 6518 Vista Drive, Shawnee, Roeland Park. The cost for five 45-minute sessions is $63 per child or Johnson County residents or $69 per child for nonresidents.

The JCPRD Activities catalog, with information and a registration form, is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. To register online and for updated program listings, see the district’s website at www.jcprd.com.
