|Swan lake Birdwatching Trip Offered on Oct. 9|
Travel with Johnson County Park and Recreation District for an exciting day of birdwatching at Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge in north central Missouri on Saturday, Oct. 9. The trip will depart from the north side of Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch Road, Merriam, at 6:30 a.m. and return around 3:30 p.m.
This 10,000-acre refuge is one of the Midwest's primary wintering areas for Canada geese. Wildlife such as white-tailed deer, beavers, and turkeys have been observed in past years. Van transportation and a sack lunch will be provided. Remember to bring binoculars and a bird book. The cost for this eight-hour trip is $29 per person. Preregistration is required. Search for the keyword "trip" to find this program in the JCPRD's Activities Catalog and online listings.
