JCPRD Offers Three Different Birthday Party Opportunities
POSTED: 07/20/2004

Looking for a unique youth birthday party idea? Consider a pool party, a chance to bounce on a huge trampoline and navigate an obstacle course, or a nature center party featuring live animals.

The Johnson County Park and Recreation District is offering birthday party opportunities at three of its facilities: the Roeland Park Aquatic Center, 4843 Rosewood, Roeland Park; the JCPRD Gymnastics Center located inside the Athletic Training Center, 9301 W. 73rd St., Merriam; and the Ernie Miller Nature Center, 909 North Kansas 7 Highway, Olathe. Parties do not include refreshments or paper products.

Birthday Parties at the Roeland Park Aquatic Center :feature a 25-meter-by-25-yard competitive pool, zero-depth entry and fountain sprayers, and an inflatable slide. Parties take place during open swim times and cost $30, plus $4 per child under 12 and $5 per child over 12. There is a minimum of 10 participants and registration must take place at least a week prior to the event. To find out more or to make reservations, call (913) 432-1377.

Birthday Parties at the Gymnastics Center include a full-size trampoline, spring floor, and the dreaded obstacle course along with hoops, balls, games, and a variety of races, plus a treat for all participants. The cost is $100 for Johnson County residents or $110 for nonresidents and includes an hour of activities and 30 minutes use of party room for up to 10 children. Add $10 for each additional child. A deposit of $30 is required when invitations are picked up. To find out more or to make reservations, call the Center at (913) 403-8069.

Participants can choose between two different themes for Birthday Parties at the Ernie Miller Nature Center. Pick the Birthday Safari and stalk wild Kansas residents, including a salamander and an owl, or have a Snake Celebration and explore the myths and realities of these important reptiles. Both programs are aimed at ages five through 10. Animal presentations last 30 minutes, leaving participants enough time for refreshments and gifts. Party times are available only on Saturdays. The cost for a two-hour session is $50 for Johnson County residents or $55 for nonresidents.Call (913) 764-7759 to learn more or to make reservations.
