Bring Your Dog and Compete During First-Ever Paws in the Park Contest at Heritage Park
POSTED: 05/25/2004

Show off your pooch in Heritage Park during the Johnson County Park and Recreation District's first-ever Paws in the Park contest in mid-June.

The event will take place beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday June 19 in the off-leash area located in the northeast section of the park. Heritage Park is located at 16050 Pflumm, Olathe.

From the Fastest Fetcher to the Best Kisser, Paws in the Park will feature a category for every dog. Dog obedience lessons, kid’s activities, and vendors with exciting dog-related items will be in the park to round out the day. Looking for a new best friend? Dogs will be available for adoption through a local animal shelter. Paws in the Park is expected to become an annual event.

All ages welcome to register. Kids under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Call (913)782-1878 for contest registration forms and contest categories.

There is an entry fee of $12 per dog for this three-hour event. Members of the public who are not bringing a dog are welcome to attend for free.

The JCPRD's ACTIVITIES catalog, with information and a registration form, is available for pick-up at all Johnson County Library branches. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359 VOICE or (913) 831-3342 TDD. To register online and for updated program listings, see the District's website at www.jcprd.com
