New Family Overnight Camping program planned at TimberRidge Adventure Center on Oct. 27
POSTED: 10/04/2017
Looking for some unplugged time with your kids? Come enjoy an overnight experience together in the great outdoors at the Johnson County Park & Recreation District’s TimberRidge Adventure Center.

The event is called Family Overnight Camping, and is for ages four and older. The event will begin with tent set-up and dinner on Friday night, followed by a sunset hike and a campfire. Program activities end at 9 pm. Group breakfast on Saturday will be made available from 7 to 8 am with event ending by 8 am. if you don’t have a tent, but still want to participate in this event, we have one you can rent, but you will need to bring bedding and other supplies. This is a great way to try camping without purchasing all the equipment. For event details call (913) 856-8849. No pets are allowed for this event. Because this is a late October campout, please be prepared for cooler evening temperatures.

To find this program in the My JCPRD Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under fun for all and then under special events. In the printed catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keyword “camping.”

The TimberRidge Adventure Center is a 200-plus acre facility including a challenge course, climbing tower, and three ponds, and is adjacent to Kill Creek Park, which JCPRD also owns and operates. TimberRidge, which was dedicated in 2002, is accessible via an entrance which is separate from and south of the main entrance to Kill Creek Park. With the exception of an open house in the early spring, the facility is normally accessible only by reservation or as part of programming.
