|New Evening Kayak Excursion offered for adults on Oct. 7 & 14 in Shawnee Mission Park|
Enjoy an evening on the water in Shawnee Mission Park through a new program being offered twice in October for adults by the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.
This program is called Evening Kayak Excursion and is for ages 18 and older. Participants can hear the croaks and splash of frogs, the hooting of owls, and view the park from a different perspective. Space is limited and registration is required. Kayaks and life jackets are provided. One session is a Beginner Excursion, which will start with a safety briefing and basic instruction, while the other is an Intermediate Excursion, which requires kayaking skills. Basic swimming skills are required for both excursions. The instructor for these programs is Johnson County Park Police Officer Seth Salmans.
To find this program in the My JCPRD Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under adult and then under nature & outdoors. In the catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keyword “boating.”

Both programs will meet near at the boat ramp at Shawnee Mission Park, 7900 Renner Road, Shawnee. The cost for one one-and-one-half-hour session is $24 per person for Johnson County residents or $26 per person for nonresidents.
