Barbershop Harmonizers men's performing group begins a new season starting Aug. 31
POSTED: 08/02/2017
If you're a guy who loves hearing the perfect pitch and sweet harmonies of barbershop music, a performing vocal group being presented in late August by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District could be for you.

The group is called the Barbershop Harmonizers and is starting a new season. Participants can find camaraderie in this chorus of men who love singing, as well as performing out in the community. To find this program in the My JCPRD Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under 50 Plus and then under fine & performing arts. In the catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keywords “performing group vocal.”

The Barbershop Harmonizers meet at 2 p.m. Thursdays beginning Aug. 31 at the Matt Ross Community Center, 8101 Marty St., Overland Park. No class on Nov. 23. The cost for 17 two-hour sessions is $25 for Johnson County residents or $28 for nonresidents. For more information or to register by phone, call (913) 831-3359 or register online at To join at anytime, call (913) 642-6410.

While JCPRD’s 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus class are invited to call the 50 Plus Department at (913) 826-3030 for space availability.

The My JCPRD Activities catalog, is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches.
