This Prairie State Park Adventure Walk on March 15 has already filled, but if enough additional interest is shown, an additional vehicle could be added to the trip, allowing more folks to enjoy this park which is home to bison, coyotes, elk, the endangered regal fritillary butterfly, and panoramic vistas of swaying grass and wildflowers. The nearly 4,000-acre Prairie State Park offers opportunities to see this region at its best. Walkers will help choose which trail, or trails, we take. Lunch will be at El Caballo de Oro Mexican Restaurant across the state border in Pittsburg, Kan.

This program will leave from Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch, Merriam, at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15, and return about 5 p.m. that day. The cost for one nine-hour outing, including transportation, is $27 per person for Johnson County residents or $30 for nonresidents. Lunch costs are on your own. While JCPRD’s 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend.
