Regnier Family Foundation announces lead gift towards new Johnson County Museum exhibit
POSTED: 11/10/2016

SHAWNEE, KANSAS - The Johnson County Museum Foundation is pleased to announce the Regnier Family Foundation’s support with the $300,000 lead gift to fund the museum’s new signature exhibition, “Becoming Johnson County.” The exhibition will open in May 2017 in the museum’s new home in the Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center, the former King Louie bowling alley, at 8788 Metcalf Ave. in Overland Park.

“The story of the growth and development of Johnson County is a story of visionary and extraordinary leadership,” said Bob Regnier. “As a result, Johnson County has become one of the leading suburban communities in the United States. The story and path of this progress is an important history lesson for present and future citizens. We thank Johnson County government for its wisdom and foresight in committing to capture and tell this story for future generations.”

The Regnier Family Foundation gift will be used to design, fabricate, and install new exhibits in the museum’s 12,500 square foot signature exhibition space that will feature its iconic 1950s All-Electric House. In addition, the museum will offer a permanent 3,500 square foot children’s history experience and a 1,500 square foot changing exhibition space.

With this lead gift from the Regnier family, the Johnson County Museum Foundation’s campaign has raised 70 percent of its $2 million capital campaign goal.

“This gift is but one more contribution the Regnier family has made through business and charitable gifts to Johnson County’s museum-worthy history,” Museum Foundation President Larry Meeker stated.
