|Visit Lawrence's Old Fashioned Christmas Parade with 50 Plus Social Outing on Dec. 3|
Visit the only horse-drawn parade in the Midwest during an early December social outing being planned by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.
This program is called the Lawrence Old Fashioned Christmas Parade and will take participants to this annual event, which involves decorated horse-drawn carriages, wagons, and coaches rolling down Lawrence's Massachusetts Street with Santa Claus as the grand finale. After the parade, participants will enjoy browsing the shops for a last-minute gift or have a cup of hot chocolate. Then, the group will feast on lunch at the Free State Brewing Company. Travelers should bring foldable canvas chairs for parade viewing. Lunch cost on your own.
To find this outing in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under 50 Plus and then under travel. In the catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keywords "social outing."
This outing will leave at 9 a.m. from Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch, Merriam, on Saturday, Dec. 3, and will return about 2 p.m. that day. The cost for this outing is $15 per person, and includes transportation. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. Click here to see this program online at www.jcprd.com.
