50 Plus plans Adventure Walk at local apple orchard on Oct. 5
POSTED: 09/19/2016
The Cider Hill Family Orchard in Kansas City, Kan., is the destination for the next adventure walk being planned by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.

This Cider Hill Family Orchard Adventure Walk is expected to require an easy level of exertion. Participants will practically have the 38-acre orchard and its 1300 apple trees, including 19 different varieties, to themselves, and they have invited adventure walkers to picnic onsite as well! Lunch will be available for purchase on site but needs to be pre-ordered by Sept. 31. Bags will be provided for apple picking, but apple costs are on your own.

To find this program in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under 50 plus and then under nature & outdoors. In the printed catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keywords "adventure walk."
This program will leave from Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch, Merriam, at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5, and return approximately 5 p.m. the same day. The cost for one nine-hour outing, including transportation, is $26 per person for Johnson County residents or $29 for nonresidents. To register online at, click on the green "Register for Activities" button and complete a barcode search for 35501.

While JCPRD’s 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus class are invited to call the 50 Plus Department at (913) 826-3030 for space availability.

Printed copies of JCPRD’s Activities catalog are available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches.
