New Family Fishing Nights set for Sept. 16 & 30 at TimberRidge Adventure Center
POSTED: 08/24/2016

A new special event being offered twice during September offers Family Fishing Nights. These events are scheduled for Sept. 16 and 30, both Friday nights, at the Johnson County Park & Recreation District's TimberRidge Adventure Center, 12300 S. Homestead Lane, Olathe.

Family Fishing Night participants are invited to bring their own fishing pole and tackle. Bait will be provided and some poles are also available for use. Each event will get under way with a dinner of hotdogs, chips, and apples from 5:30 to 6 pm. Fishing will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. at TimberRidge's Catfish pond, where boats will be available. The evening will conclude with an opportunity to roast marshmallows around a campfire from 7 to 7:30 pm. Staff can help with basic fishing questions, and will assist with boats, but remember, vests must be worn. Participants age 16 and older are required to have a Kansas fishing license. Licenses will not be sold on site. Parents need to be able to assist their children with fishing.

To find this program in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under fun for all and then under nature & outdoors. In the catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keyword “fishing.”

This program will take place beginning at 5:30 p.m. on two Fridays at the TimberRidge Adventure Center. The cost for this two-hour program, including dinner, fish bait, and marshmallows for around the fire, is $10 per person for Johnson County residents or $11 per person for nonresidents. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. To register online at www.jcprd.com, follow the “Register for Activities” link and do a barcode search for 35075 for the Sept. 16 session or 35076 for the Sept. 30 session.

Participants can complete Achievement Classes (similar to academic grade levels) and earn Achievement Badges and Awards. To register for JCPRD U, call (913) 826-2950.
