|Rock N' Roll Dinner on July 8 is next of JCPRD's Dementia Friendly programs|
A Rock N' Roll Dinner in early July is the next in an ongoing series of Dementia Friendly programs being offered by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.
These programs are presented in conjunction with the Alzheimer’s Association of Kansas City. They are designed for persons with early stages of memory-loss and their caretakers to enjoy together while living active lifestyles and connecting with others in our community.
This Rock N' Roll Dinner on Friday, July 8, promises a rocking good time. Participants can travel back to a time when Elvis was king, father knew best, and everyone loved Lucy! We’ll be playing all the good oldies on the transistor radio and sipping on root beer floats. Dinner plans tentatively call for a salad and pasta dish, but 50 Plus Recreation Coordinator Lisa Scharnak said she will adjust the program and /or menu to meet the cognitive and dietary needs of participants in an effort to eliminate barriers to participation. If you have special requests or concerns, contact Scharnak at (913) 826-3161.
To find this program in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under 50 Plus and then under enrichment & special interests. In the catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keyword “networking.”
The Rock N' Roll Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 8, at the Roeland Park Community Center, 4850 Rosewood Dr., Roeland Park. The cost for this two-hour event, including dinner, is $10 per person. To register, call (913) 831-3359.
