|“Minions” and “Inside Out,” to be shown at The Theatre in the Park during July|
Those pill-shaped gibberish-speaking yellow guys and a bevy of emotions inside the head of a young girl are the subjects of two recent animated movies which will be shown during July as The Theatre in the Park’s Movies in the Park program continues.
July movies will include a July 5 showing of “Minions;” and a July 19 showing of “Inside Out.” Through this program, a total of eight films are being shown on a 40-foot screen on the stage at The Theatre in the Park on specified summer nights when musical productions are not scheduled.
Movies in the Park includes films on every other Tuesday during the theatre’s summer season, and then move to Saturday nights once the theatre’s season of musicals concludes on Aug. 8. Films will begin between 8:30 and 8:45 p.m., depending on sunset, and the cost is only $1 per person. Gates open on movie nights at 7:30 p.m.
Other movie nights in the series include: an Aug. 2 showing of “ET;” an Aug. 13 showing of “Up;” an Aug. 20 showing of “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off;” and an Aug. 27 showing of “Tangled.”
With the sole exception of “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off;” which is Rated PG-13, all of this year’s films are rated PG. Please note that the theatre’s usual rain-out policy does not apply to movie nights. Due to licensing restrictions, if a movie has to be cancelled due to inclement weather, no refunds will be issued and no tickets will be revalidated.
The Theatre in the Park is a program of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District. The theatre is located north of the main entrance to Shawnee Mission Park with a separate entrance at 7710 Renner Road in Shawnee.
