POSTED: 06/03/2016

A chance to experience Kill Creek Park followed by lunch, are the aims of a social outing being planned in late June by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park and Recreation District.

Kill Creek Park Social Walk is the name of this program, which is priced at a discounted rate, and will take place on June 29. Participants will meet at Antioch Park and ride a bus to Kill Creek Park, located 11670 Homestead Lane, Olathe. At the park, participants will explore trails in the 870-acre park located near De Soto. After their hike, walkers will return to Antioch Park via bus for a picnic of hamburgers. Participants are asked to bring a side dish or dessert.

To find this program in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under 50 plus and then under nature & outdoors. In the printed catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keywords “special social walk.”

This program will leave from Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch, Merriam, at 9 a.m. The cost for one six -hour event, including transportation, is $11 per person for Johnson County residents or $13 for nonresidents. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. To register online at www.jcprd.com, follow the “Register for Activities” link and complete a barcode search for 34262.

While JCPRD’s 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus trip are invited to call the 50 Plus Department at (913) 826-3030 for space availability.

Printed copies of JCPRD’s Activities catalog are available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches.
