|New season of Foodie Fridays program for 50 Plus begins with May 6 outing|
Q39 Restaurant in Kansas City’s eclectic West 39th Street neighborhood is the first destination for a new season of the Foodie Fridays program being presented this spring and early summer by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.
This program lets participants try a new restaurant each month with a fun and active group of friends for lunch or dinner on a Friday each month. Participants meet at Antioch Park. Transportation to and from the restaurant is provided, and participants are responsible for the cost of food and drinks on their own. Diners can come to one outing or as many as they’d like planned through August. Please call (913) 826-3160 for more information or to register.
Q39 is a hybrid of two Kansas City favorites and new concept in barbeque and wood-fire grilling, led by national barbeque champion Rob Magee. Q39 features the area’s first open barbeque scratch kitchen. The restaurant has a large dining room, expansive bar, and private dining. It is also home to a full-service bar serving original cocktails and hand-selected local beers and wines.
To find this program in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under 50 Plus and then under travel. In the printed catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keywords "Social Outing."
The outing to Q39 will take place beginning at 1:30 p.m. on May 6. The cost for one two-and-one-half-hour outing with transportation is $10 per person. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. To register online at www.jcprd.com, click on the green "Register for Activities" button and complete a barcode search for 34104.
Other upcoming restaurant destinations and dates include: BRGR Kitchen & Bar on June 24 (barcode 34105), Old Chicago on July 15 (barcode 34106), and Louie's Wine Dive on Aug. 19 (barcode 34107).
While JCPRD’s 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus program are invited to call the 50 Plus Department at (913) 826-3030 for space availability.
Printed copies of JCPRD’s Activities catalog are available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches.
