|First deadline for HP3 event, including Duathlon, 5K and 10K, is April 22|
For more than 29 years the Johnson County Park & Recreation District has sponsored an early-summer duathlon at Heritage Park. Since 2013, 5K and 10K runs have also been part of this event and this year, a local youth running group has made the 5K their celebratory run.
This event, known as the HP3, consists of a duathlon which includes 3.1 mile run, and a 15.3-mile bike, followed by another 3.1 mile run. The run portion of the Duathlon, along with the 5K and 10K routes are inside Heritage Park and incorporate the natural beauty of the park's trail system. The bike portion of the Duathlon is inside and slightly outside of Heritage Park. All three events will take place beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 14. All participants will receive a T-shirt and a finishers medal.
To find these events in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog, browse first under adult and then under special events. In the catalog, look for the keyword "race."
