Explore stadiums of Sporting Kansas City and the Kansas City Chiefs during 50 Plus day trip
POSTED: 02/24/2016

Go behind the scenes at two premier sporting venues during a mid-March day trip being offered by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.

This trip, called Stadium Tours, will start with Sporting Park, home of the Sporting Kansas City soccer team. Participants can explore locker rooms, VIP spaces, and areas not generally open to the public. Find out about the technology that makes this spectacular stadium like none other. Head over to the Legends shopping area for lunch at Johnny Carino’s Italian Restaurant. Then take a guided tour of Arrowhead Stadium, longtime home of the Kansas City Chiefs. Visit the press box, club level, locker room, field, and the Chiefs Hall of Honor. As both stadiums are large, be sure to wear comfortable shoes for walking on the tours.

To find this program in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under 50 Plus and then under travel. In the printed catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keywords "day trip."

The trip will depart from the north side of Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch Road, Merriam, at 9 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, and return around 4 p.m. The cost is $79 per person for one seven-hour trip, including lunch. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. To see this program online at www.jcprd.com, follow the “Register for Activities” link and do a barcode search for 32249.

While JCPRD’s 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus class are invited to call the 50 Plus Department at (913) 826-3030 for space availability.

The JCPRD’s Activities catalog is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches.
