Rental of Antioch Park's Helen Cuddy Rose Garden Now Available for Nonresidents
POSTED: 02/10/2004

A popular outdoor wedding location has recently been opened to rentals from those who live outside Johnson County. Previously available only to Johnson County residents, the Helen Cuddy Rose Garden located within Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch, Merriam, has now been opened to nonresidents as well.

Under a recently approved new pricing schedule, the Johnson County Park and Recreation District will offer rental of the garden for $50 per hour for Johnson County residents or $75 per hour for nonresidents. There is a three-hour minimum for garden rentals regardless of residency.

The Helen Cuddy Rose Garden and Memorial Arboretum provides a lovely wedding background. Peak blooming time for the roses is during June and into July. The garden is used for weddings only and is not available for receptions. Due to scheduled and anticipated renovations in Antioch Park this year, Rose Garden reservations will only be available between June 1 and Aug. 31 and are taken on a first-come, first-served basis.

For weddings being held in District parks and facilities, a JCPRD Wedding Permit is required. There is a per-event fee of $50 for Johnson County residents or $75 for nonresidents, but this fee is waived when the Helen Cuddy Rose Garden or a park shelter is reserved in conjunction with the event.

More information about the rose garden is available on the District's website at www.jcprd.com under Parks & Facilities/Wedding Sites. Shelter reservations are not available over the internet. Please call (913) 831-3359 or visit the Reservation /Registration Office in Antioch Park, Bldg. C. Office hours are from 8:30 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Phones are answered between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
