|Registrations being taken for Indoor Triathlon on Feb. 24|
Registrations are now being taken for an Indoor Triathlon being hosted by 68's Indoor Sports in conjunction with the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.
Open to ages six to 14 and 18 and older, this event will have all the elements of standard triathlons such as body marking, wave starts, adrenaline rushes, volunteer support, and post-race celebration without the intimidating aspects of open water swims and crowded bike corrals. Heats for this triathlon will take place beginning at 7 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24, at 68's Indoor Sports, 11301 W. 88th St., Overland Park. The event will be limited to about 100 participants. The triathlon will consists of a 500-yard swim , followed by an 10-mile indoor bike ride on exercise bikes used for "spin" classes, and a three-mile run on the facility's indoor track.
To find this program in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under youth or adult and then under sports. In the catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keyword “triathlon.”
