|Sports Officiating Class for ages 15 and older begins Jan. 2 at Okun Fieldhouse|
Learn the basics of sports officiating during a program being offered by the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.
This Sports Officiating Class is for adults ages 15 and older and will train participants for basketball, baseball, fast pitch, flag football, slow pitch, and volleyball officiating. Designed for prospective officials, referees, and umpires, the clinic will cover the basics including what to wear, court and field positioning, conduct, rules and regulations, as well as interactions with players, teams, coaches and parents. Everyone who successfully completes this course will have the opportunity to be hired by JCPRD for seasonal positions during the upcoming sports season.

This program will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday beginning Jan. 2 at the Okun Fieldhouse in the Mid-America West Sports Complex, 20200 Johnson Drive, Shawnee. The cost for four two-hour sessions is $60 for Johnson County residents or $67 for nonresidents.
