Crown Center is destination for next 50 Plus Wednesday Walk on Dec. 2
POSTED: 11/18/2015
Kansas City landmark Crown Center is the next destination for the Wednesday Walks program being presented this fall by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.

For this walk, participants are invited to stay inside and walk at the indoor downtown shopping and entertainment complex. It will be a chance to get in one more walk for the year and enjoy the holiday atmosphere. This walk will require only an easy level of exertion.

This outing will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 2, and will depart at 9 a.m. from Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch, Merriam. The cost for this six-hour outing, including van transportation to the walk site, is $18 per person for Johnson County residents or $20 for nonresidents. Participants should bring a sack lunch for a picnic after the walk in the dining area in Crown Center's lower level.

To find this program in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under 50 Plus and then under nature & outdoors. In the catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keywords "Wednesday walks.” For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. To register for the Crown Center walk at, complete a barcode search for 29833.

The next season of Wednesday Walks will begin in late February and will include a Feb. 24 outing to Pomona Lake State Park near Topeka (barcode 32053), a March 23 outing to the Prairie Spirit Trail near Garnett, Kan., (barcode 32054), and an April 20 walk at Lake Shawnee in Topeka (barcode 32055).

While JCPRD’s 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus class are invited to call the 50 Plus Department at (913) 826-3030 for space availability.

The JCPRD's Activities catalog is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches.
