Participate in free "Elf on the Shelf" contest via Twitter
POSTED: 11/04/2015
Use Twitter to participate in an "Elf on the Shelf"-themed holiday contest being presented by the Johnson County Park & Recreation District between Dec. 1 and 14.

Now in its second year, this event lets participants use hashtag #JCPRDelfontheshelf2015 to post pictures of your elf's hiding places and the mischievous things he or she does. Tweet as many times as you like during the first 14 days of December for your chance to win a JCPRD gift card for use at Olaf's Splash Bash pool party on Wednesday, Dec. 23, at the Roeland Park Aquatic Center. The winning twitter handle will be drawn at random from all the entries. The official contest rules will be posted to the @JCPRDrpcampus Twitter account on Tuesday, Dec. 1.

"The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition" is a 2005 children’s book written by Carol Aebersold and her daughter, Chanda Bell, with illustrations by Coë Steinwart. This picture book tells a Christmas-themed story about elves who visit children from Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve in order to report back to Santa. The book comes with a small soft toy in form of a pixie scout elf.

The Roeland Park Aquatic Center is located at 4850 Rosewood, Roeland Park. Besides a chance to swim in the dome-covered pool, the three-hour pool party on Dec. 23 includes lunch and an opportunity to make and decorate a marshmallow snowman.
