|Next Wednesday Walk for 50 Plus takes participants to Cedar Crest on Oct. 7|
Beautiful trails near the Kansas governor's mansion are the next destination in the fall series of monthly Wednesday Walks being offered by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.
The program is called Fall Strolling and the next outing on Oct. 7 will take participants to Topeka's Cedar Crest, the Kansas Governor’s Mansion (barcode 29828). Other upcoming outings include; a Nov. 4 outing at Clinton Lake (barcode 29832); and a Dec. 2 indoor outing to Kansas City’s Crown Center (barcode 29833).
Each outing will take place on a Wednesday and will depart at 9 a.m. from Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch, Merriam. The cost for each six-hour outing, including van transportation to the walk site, is $18 per person for Johnson County residents or $20 for nonresidents. Participants should bring a sack lunch for a picnic after the walk, and a few dollars in case we decide to stop for ice cream. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. To register for these walks at www.jcprd.com, complete a search for the barcodes listed above.
To find these programs in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under 50 Plus and then under nature & outdoors. In the catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keywords "Wednesday Walks."
During the Cedar Crest walk, participants will enjoy the changing colors of the leaves and the crisp fall air as they blaze trails through this natural and varied terrain.
While JCPRD’s 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus class are invited to call the 50 Plus Department at (913) 826-3030 for space availability.
The JCPRD’s Activities catalog is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches.
