New Warehouse Weekends outing set for adults on Oct. 3
POSTED: 09/18/2015

If you love the idea of old warehouses teeming with antique and vintage merchandise just waiting for you to discover, a new Saturday outing being offered for adults by the Johnson County Park & Recreation District could be for you.

This program is called Warehouse Weekends, A Decorator’s Dream, and is for ages 18 and older. Participants will meet at Antioch Park and travel by bus to the antique shops of Kansas City's West Bottoms. Whatever your style retro, shabby-chic, modern, anything you can think of; you will probably find! The bus will also stop at Architectural Salvage to see what treasures we can dig up there. Lunch costs are on your own. Sign up with a friend or come on your own and meet a new shopping buddy. To find this program in the district's online listings, browse first under adult and then under special events. When using the website’s advanced search, look for the keywords “fine art.”

This trip will leave at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, from Antioch Park 6501 Antioch, Merriam, and return at approximately 2:30 p.m. that day. The cost is $10 per person for Johnson County residents or $11 per person for nonresidents and includes transportation. For more information or to register, call (913) 826-3030. To see this program online at www.jcprd.com, click on the green “Register for Activities” button and complete a barcode search for 30121.

Another new fine arts outing for adults will take place on Oct. 24 when a program called Thomas Hart Benton Studio Tour takes participants to visit the studio and home of the Kansas City art legend, as well as an exhibit of his work at the Nelson Atkins Art Museum. The barcode for this program is 30120.

Printed copies of JCPRD’s Activities catalog are available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches.
