|Love in the Afternoon programs for 50 Plus to feature great music and cuisine on Oct. 1, 2 & 6|
A lunch program featuring fine cuisine and exceptional music is being offered three times in early October by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.
Not listed in the current Activities catalog or online listings, these events are called Love in the Afternoon and all three programs begin at noon.
All three October programs will have the theme “The Music of Irving Berlin and Jule Styne” and will take place on Thursday, Oct. 1 at the Old Shawnee Town Hall in Herman Laird Park, 11501 W 57th St, Shawnee; on Friday, Oct. 2, at the Roeland Park Community Center, 4850 Rosewood Dr., Roeland Park; and on Monday, Oct. 6, at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 10100 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park.
The cost for each two-hour program, including lunch and a show, is $15 per ticket, and must be purchased in advance by calling Shawnee Heartland Assisted Living at (913) 248-6688.
Another series of Love in the Afternoon events is planned for December, when the theme will be “A Christmas Prayer.” Those will include a Dec. 4 performance at the Roeland park Community Center, a Dec. 8 performance at Emmanuel Baptist Church, and a Dec. 10 performance at Old Shawnee Town Hall.
