Baltimore Bend Winery is destination for new Sept. 26 social outing for 50 plus
POSTED: 09/09/2015

Enjoy a relaxing evening with a glass of wine, while enjoying live music during a recently-announced new social outing planned for late September by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.

An Evening at Baltimore Bend Winery is the name of this trip, which will take place on Saturday, Sept. 26. On what is hoped will be a beautiful fall day, participants will travel to the Baltimore Bend Winery in Waverly, Mo., to catch a performance of The Harvest Moon Band. The group features longtime 50 Plus participant Wally Drone and five other Kansas City-area musicians and plays favorite oldies of the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Harvest Moon draws from an extensive list of songs made famous by groups and entertainers such as the Beatles, Credence Clearwater Revival, Billy Joel, The Jackson 5, Cheap Trick, Queen, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, the Dixie Chicks, and Johnny Cash.

This outing was a late addition to the schedule and is not included in the September through December issue of JCPRD's Activities Catalog. To find this program in the district's online listings, browse first under 50 Plus and then under nature & outdoors. When using the website’s advanced search, look for the keywords "outdoor event."

This trip will leave at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, from Antioch Park 6501 Antioch, Merriam, and return at approximately 10:30 p.m. that day. Participants should bring a picnic dinner. The cost is $25 per person for Johnson County residents or $28 per person for nonresidents and includes transportation. Wine costs at Baltimore Bend will be on your own. For more information or to register, call (913) 826-3030. To register online at www.jcprd.com, follow the “Register for Activities” link and do a barcode search for 30663.

While JCPRD’s 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus class are invited to call the 50 Plus Department at (913) 826-3030 for space availability.
