|Join new Tune Time Singers performing group beginning Sept. 14|
A new performing vocal group is seeking members through a program being presented by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.
The group is called the Tune Time Singers and is seeking men and women who love to sing! Directed by a former professional opera singer and vocal instructor, Frank Curtis, and accompanied by Phyllis Curtis, this group shows off their vocal ability at performances which form the heart of the popular “Love in the Afternoon” special events. Love in the Afternoon is a lunch program for 50 plus featuring fine cuisine and exceptional music presented at local churches and community centers. Upcoming Love in the Afternoon sessions include: Oct. 1 at Old Shawnee Town Hall, 11600 Johnson Drive Shawnee; Oct. 2 at Roeland Park Community Center, 4850 Rosewood Dr., Roeland Park; Oct. 6 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 10100 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park; Dec. 4 at Roeland Park; Dec. 8 at Emmanuel Baptist; and Dec. 10 at Old Shawnee Town Hall.
To find this program in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under 50 plus and then under fine & performing arts. In the catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keywords “performing group vocal.”
The cost for 16 one-hour sessions is $27 for Johnson County residents or $30 for nonresidents. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. To register online at www.jcprd.com, click on the green “Register for Activities” button and complete a barcode search for 29786. To join at any time, call (913) 642-6410.
While the JCPRD's 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus class are invited to call the district's Registration Department at (913) 831-3359, and if space is available without forfeiting the place of a person over 50, their registration can be taken.
