|Regional Pickleball Tournament set for Aug. 21-23 at New Century Fieldhouse|
Register by Aug. 10 to participate in the 2015 Regional Pickleball Tournament, set for Aug. 21 through 23 at the Johnson County Park & Recreation District's New Century Fieldhouse, near Gardner.
This weekend event is presented by JCPRD's 50 Plus Department and is now sanctioned by the USA Pickleball Association. Now in its second year, the event will this year use players’ ratings for assigning brackets for both mixed and men’s and women's doubles matches. Friday's fun includes dinner, court space for practice, and good company. Tournament play will take place on Saturday and Sunday. The 2014 event drew more than 70 players from five states.
Pickleball is a cross between tennis, badminton, and table tennis played on a court with two players per side who use a wiffleball and paddles. New Century Fieldhouse is located at 551 New Century Parkway, near Gardner.
