|Back to School Bash & Splash For Cash set for Aug. 8 at Roeland Park Aquatic Center|
Come have one more fun day at the pool before it's time to resume the school routine during a special event being planned at the Roeland Park Aquatic Center.
Now in its second year, this event is called Back to School Bash and Splash for Cash and will take place on Saturday, Aug. 8. For the Splash For Cash portion of the event, an amount of change will be placed in various areas of the center's main pool and different age groups will have an opportunity to dive in and collect as many coins as they can. Contact between participants is strictly prohibited. Back to School Bash activities include paddle boat races, games, and snow cones. The Roeland Park Aquatic Center is located at 4843 Rosewood Dr., just east of the Roeland Park Community Center. It is owned by the City of Roeland Park and operated by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District.
The Roeland Park Community Center features an C-shaped 50-meter pool with zero-depth entry and a maximum depth of 13 feet. Other features include: a 25 yard by 25 meter competitive area; four 50-meter swimming lanes; and a bath house with lockers and a family change area. The facility also offers swim instruction for all ages, water exercise programs, and a variety of special events.
