New Foodie Fridays program for 50 Plus begins May 15
POSTED: 04/22/2015
Try a new restaurant with a fun and active group during a new program being offered this spring and summer by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.

Foodie Fridays is the name of this program, which offers participants a chance to visit a different restaurant on the second or third Friday of each month. Programs will alternate between lunch and dinner, and the locations to be visited will be based on suggestions from members. Membership includes participation in up to four Foodie Fridays during the May through August season. Participants can meet at the restaurant or reserve a seat to ride on the JCPRD’s bus to these events for just $5. Meal costs are not included and will be the responsibility of participants.

To find this program in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under 50 Plus and then under special events. In the printed catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keywords “Social Outings.”

The membership fee is $10, which entitles members to participate in up to four Foodie Friday outings. This membership fee must be paid prior to participation. To join, call (913) 831-3359.

Outing dates and times include: May 15, 4:30 p.m. ; June 12, 11:30 a.m.; July 17, 4:30 p.m.; and Aug. 21, 11:30 a.m. For more information and meeting locations, call (913) 826-3160.

While JCPRD’s 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus activity are invited to call our Registration Department at (913) 831-3359, and if space is available without forfeiting the place of a person over 50, their registration can be taken.

Printed copies of JCPRD’s Activities catalog are available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches.
