|New Bingo Night and Bingo Cookout events planned in mid-May|
Two new bingo-related special events are being planned in mid-May by the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.
Bingo Family Fun Night will take place on Friday, May 8, while the Bingo Cookout in the Park will take place on Thursday, May 14.
Bingo Family Fun Night is for all ages and will take place beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 8, at the Roeland Park Community Center, 4860 Rosewood Dr., Roeland Park. Set during National Screen Free Week, participants are invited to turn off their cell phones and leave their tablets at home in order to fully take part in this family event. Participants will enjoy spending time with the whole family while playing Bingo. Prizes will include games and gift cards. Dinner is included and will be served at 6 p.m., followed by 12 games of bingo. Each player will receive two bingo cards for each game.
The cost per individual for this two-and-one-half-hour event is $7 for Johnson County residents or $9 for nonresidents or a family rate for up to four people is $25 for Johnson County residents or $28 for nonresidents.

This program are also eligible for credit in the Social dimension for the JCPRD U holistic wellness program for participants ages three to 18. Participants can complete Achievement Classes (similar to academic grade levels) and earn Achievement Badges and awards. The new Bingo Cookout in the Park is planned by JCPRD's 50 Plus Department and will give participants a chance to enjoy grilled burgers, fresh fruit, chips, dessert, and play 12 games of bingo near the blooming roses in the park's Helen Cuddy Rose Garden. Bingo prizes will range from gift bags to gift certificates, with the blackout prize of a deluxe picnic set. This event will take place rain or shine beginning at noon on Thursday, May 14, at Shelter #2. in Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch, Merriam.

While JCPRD’s 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus program are invited to call the District’s Registration Department at (913) 831-3359, and if space is available without forfeiting the place of a person over 50, their registration can be taken.
