|Public invited to review and provide input on recommendations for new JCPRD strategic plan|
The planning consultants who have been working on a new strategic plan for the Johnson County Park and Recreation District since last spring will present their preliminary recommendations at an open house on Tuesday, April 21 in the Elmridge Room at Tomahawk Hills Golf Course, 17501 Midland Drive, Shawnee.
Members of the public are invited and encouraged to attend at any time between 4:30 and 7:30 that evening to review and provide input on the consulting team’s proposed strategies for managing and expanding Johnson County’s park and recreational resources over the next 15 years.
The consulting team is headed by SWT Design of St. Louis and includes planning strategists from De Soto-based Indigo Design, VSR Design of Overland Park, Ballard*King & Associates of Highlands Ranch, CO, and ETC Institute of Olathe.
A summary of the preliminary recommendations will also be available for review beginning April 21 at www.jcprd.com. Members of the public unable to attend the open house will have an opportunity to contribute to the planning process by sending comments and suggestions to email@example.com or by mailing them to: JCPRD Strategic Plan, SWT Design, 7722 Big Bend Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63119. To ensure the input receives consideration prior to the plan’s completion, it should be shared with SWT Design by May 1.
The planning team will be finalizing its recommendations in the weeks following the open house, and the plan is scheduled to be presented to the Board of Park and Recreation Commissioners for approval this summer. The new plan will replace MAP 2020, the master action plan the board approved in 2001.
