|50 Plus offers Prairie Center Twilight Walk on April 24|
Enjoy a leisurely walk on the beautiful trails at the Prairie Center in Olathe as the sun sets, followed by a dinner with other walkers during a late April program being offered by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.
The program is called Twilight Walk and will take place on Friday, April 24. Participants will take a walk at the Prairie Center, a 300-acre haven preserving the rapidly disappearing Kansas prairie, operated by the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism. Following the walk, the group will have dinner at Fred P. Ott's Bar & Grill in Olathe, where dinner costs will be on your own.
This outing is considered a moderate-intensity walk. To find this program in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under 50 plus and then under nature & outdoors. In the printed catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keywords "twilight walk."
This program will leave from Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch, Merriam, at 4:30 p.m. The cost for one six-hour outing, including transportation, is $21 per person for Johnson County residents or $28 for nonresidents. Dinner costs are on your own. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. To register online at www.jcprd.com, follow the "Register for Activities" link and complete a barcode search for 26497.
While the JCPRD's 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus class are invited to call the District's Registration Department at (913) 831-3359, and if space is available without forfeiting the place of a person over 50, their registration can be taken.
Printed copies of JCPRD’s Activities catalog are available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches.
