Registrations being taken for Indoor Triathlon on March 1
POSTED: 02/04/2015
Registrations are now being taken for an Indoor Triathlon being hosted by 68's Inside Sports in conjunction with the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.

Open to ages six to 14 and 15 and older, this fun and challenging event is for both seasoned triathletes who want an early spring challenge and beginners wanting to take part in their first triathlon. The Indoor Triathlon will have all the elements of standard triathlons such as body marking, wave starts, adrenaline rushes, volunteer support, and post-race celebration without the intimidating aspects of open water swims and crowded bike corrals. Heats for this triathlon will take place beginning at 7 a.m. on Sunday, March 1, at 68's Inside Sports, 11301 W. 88th St., Overland Park. The event will be limited to about 100 participants.

The length of the three elements of the triathlon will vary depending on participants' age. For ages six to ten, the event will consist of 100-yard swim in the indoor pool, followed by an three-mile indoor bike ride on exercise bikes used for "spin" classes, and a one-mile run on the facility's indoor track. For the 11 to 14 group, the triathlon consists of a 200-yard swim, a six-mile bike ride, and a two-mile run. For the 15 and older group, the triathlon consists of a 500-yard swim, a ten-mile bike ride, and a three-mile run.
