|Truman-related sites in Independence are destinations for 50 Plus day trip on Feb. 17|
Just in time for the week of President's Day, visit Harry S. Truman-related sites in Independence, Mo, during a day trip being planned by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.
Presidential Pride is the name of this trip. Participants will Trace the life of the 33rd U.S. President through photos, documents, and interactive exhibits, during a visit to the Harry S. Truman Library and Museum. Travelers will then enjoy lunch sat Cafe Verona Italian restaurant, located just off the Independence square. Other stops will include a visit to the train depot where Truman ended his whistlestop campaign, and a guided tour of the renovated courthouse to see Truman's original office from which he oversaw the daily operations of Jackson County.

This trip will leave at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17, from Antioch Park 6501 Antioch, Merriam, and return at approximately 4 p.m. that day. The cost is $59 per person and includes lunch.

While JCPRD’s 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend.
