Try knitting lessons through Leap List program for 50 Plus beginning Feb. 3
POSTED: 01/08/2015

Try your yarn at knitting during a program being planned by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.

Leap List is the name of the program, which is meant to put a new twist on the "bucket lists" we've all heard of. These programs present an opportunity to "leap into memories" and participate in activities you've always wanted to try. Each Leap List program is intended as an introductory course with different activities each session through which participants can determine if they want to pursue those activities further.

To find this program in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under 50 plus and then enrichment & special interests. In the printed catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keyword “memories.”

Beginning knitting is offered at 1 p.m. on Tuesday beginning Feb. 3 at JCPRD’s New Century Fieldhouse, 551 New Century Parkway, near Gardner. Participants of are invited to learn the basics and start their first knitting project. The cost for four 60-minute lessons is $31 for Johnson County residents or $35 for nonresidents.

For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. To register online at www.jcprd.com, follow the “Register for Activities” link and complete a barcode search for 26462.

While the JCPRD’s 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus class are invited to call the District’s Registration Department at (913) 831-3359, and if space is available without forfeiting the place of a person over 50, their registration can be taken.

Printed copies of JCPRD’s Activities catalog are available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches.
