|Road resurfacing project on north side of Shawnee Mission Park planned during early evening hours on Aug. 6-8|
A planned road resurfacing project on the north side of the lake at Shawnee Mission Park may limit access during the early evening hours of Aug. 6 through 8, Johnson County Park and Recreation District officials announced.
The project will involve microsurfacing of a one-mile section of road stretching west from the 79th street "T" within the park to the northwest corner of the dam. The work will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. each evening and it is anticipated only one lane will be closed each evening. This will impact access to the Small Lakes area (via small Lakes Road), Mabel Fitch Drive, Ogg Road, and the park's marina and beach.
Because this is a microsurfacing process, it is anticipated this project will not result in significant dust or rocks left on the resurfaced roadway, which was last resurfaced in 2003.
Like all outdoor projects, this project is dependent upon good weather. In case of inclement weather, this resurfacing project could be delayed or postponed.
