|Aug. 29 deadline set for mid-October regional trip to central Kansas|
Explore a number of attractions and cultures during a three-day regional trip being planned by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District. This trip is scheduled for mid-October, but has an Aug. 29 deadline for registration and payment of a deposit.
This trip is called Cultural Tours of Central Kansas: Abilene, Lindsborg, and Hutchison. Participants will travel by motorcoach to Abilene, where they will visit the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library, followed by a fried-chicken dinner at the legendary Brookville Hotel. The trip includes two nights at the Comfort Inn in Hutchison, where the group will explore the history of space travel at the Kansas Cosmosphere and visit the Kansas Underground Salt Museum. Dinner on the second night will be at the Amish Community of Yoder, where travelers will enjoy homemade pie, and shopping at Carriage Crossing. The last day of the trip will bring a visit to the town of Lindsborg, also known as Little Sweden, where participants will visit the Birger Sandzen Memorial Art Gallery, the Dala Horse Workshop, and try some traditional dishes during lunch at the Swedish Crown Restaurant.

This trip will leave on the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 15, and return the evening of Friday, October 17. In addition to bus transportation, two nights lodging, tours, and attraction admissions, this trip includes six meals. The cost is $439 per person for double occupancy or $549 per person for single occupancy. A deposit of $50 for this trip is due by Aug. 29.
