|Yoga and Yoga Fusion classes offered for adults at MCAC during August|
Two different adult yoga programs have classes beginning in early August at the Johnson County Park & Recreation District's Mill Creek Activity Center, 6518 Vista Drive, Shawnee.
One class called Yoga Fusion, while the other is titled simply Yoga. Both classes are for ages 14 and older, and both are considered low-intensity. For either program, the cost for six 50-minute sessions is $45 per person for Johnson County residents or $50 for nonresidents. To find these programs in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under adult and then under fitness & health. In the catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keyword “yoga.”
Yoga Fusion combines yoga, resistance training, and Pilates and is meant to improve strength, flexibility, balance, endurance, and coordination. The class will utilize body weight, balls, hand weights, and breath work to both challenge and revitalize participants. Modifications can be made for varying fitness levels. Be sure to bring a mat and water to class. One Yoga Fusion class meets at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday beginning Aug. 6, while another meets at 9 a.m. Thursday beginning Aug. 7.
In Yoga class, participants will improve circulation, regulate their metabolism, increase flexibility and coordination, and lengthen their muscles while increasing both muscle and bone density. Yoga participants of all levels are welcome. One Yoga class meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday beginning Aug. 6, while another meets at 5:30 p.m. Monday beginning Aug. 18. This class will not meet on Sept. 1. For more information about this program, call (913) 826-2950.
