New event at Ernie Miller Nature Center lets 50 plus and their grandchildren "Go Enjoy" nature once again before summer ends
POSTED: 07/10/2014
A new special event at the Ernie Miller Nature Center in early August gives grandparents one last time to spend some time with their grandkids enjoying nature-related activities.

The event is called Go Enjoy and is for ages 50 plus and their grandchildren, ages three and older. This event will take place beginning at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5, at the nature center, 909 N. Kansas 7 Highway, Olathe. Planned activities include an animal presentation, lunch, and a bird-themed craft activity. There will also be a scavenger hunt around the nature center.

To find this program in the Johnson County Park & Recreation District’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under 50 plus and then under nature & outdoors. In the catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keywords “special event.”

The cost for one four-hour session, including lunch of hamburgers, chips, a cookie, and a drink, is $12 per person for Johnson County residents or $13 per person for nonresidents. Those planning to attend need to register by Aug. 1 by calling (913) 831-3359.

While the JCPRD's 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus class are invited to call the District's Registration Department at (913) 831-3359, and if space is available without forfeiting the place of a person over 50, their registration can be taken.

The JCPRD's Activities catalog is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. For updated program listings, see the District's website at
