|Mermaid & Pirates Day & Splash for Cash event is July 19 and Roeland Park Aquatic Center|
A special event for all ages at the Roeland Park Aquatic Center promises opportunities to walk the plank, sword fight with a pirate or swim with mermaids.
The event is called Mermaids and Pirates Day and Splash For Cash and will take place on Saturday, July 19 and promises to be a great event for children and adults. For the Splash For Cash portion of the event, which will begin at noon, an amount of change will be placed in various areas of the center's main pool and different age groups will have an opportunity to dive in and collect as many coins as they can. Contact between participants is strictly prohibited.

The Roeland Park Aquatic Center is located at 4843 Rosewood Dr., just east of the Roeland Park Community Center, and is owned by the City of Roeland Park and operated by the Johnson County Park and Recreation District.
The cost for this three-hour event is $3 for Johnson County residents or $4 for nonresidents.
The Roeland Park Community Center features an C-shaped 50-meter pool with zero-depth entry and a maximum depth of 13 feet. Other features include: a 25 yard by 25 meter competitive area; four 50-meter swimming lanes; and a bath house with lockers and a family change area. The facility also offers swim instruction for all ages, water exercise programs, and a variety of special events.
