|New 50 plus craft classes drawing on Pinterest offered at two locations on Nov. 14|
The social website Pinterest is the inspiration behind a new crafts class being offered twice in November by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.
I Saw it On... is the name of the program. Pinterest has set the online world abuzz by allowing users to "pin" crafts, home decor, and other interests on an online bulletin board. In the local class, participants will take some of those ideas and make them their own as they undertake holiday crafting.
To find this program in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under 50 plus and then under hobbies & special interests. In the printed catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keyword “crafts.”
The holiday crafting session of I Saw it On... is being offered on Nov. 14 at two locations. The program will take place beginning at 1 p.m. at the New Century Fieldhouse, 511 New Century Parkway, near Gardner, and at 5:30 p.m. at the Roeland park Community Center, 4850 Rosewood, Roeland Park. The cost for one 45-minute session is $9 for Johnson County Residents or $10 for nonresidents. For supply lists, call (913) 826-2860 for New Century, or (913) 826-3160 for Roeland Park.
While the JCPRD's 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus class are invited to call the District's Registration Department at (913) 831-3359, and if space is available without forfeiting the place of a person over 50, their registration can be taken.
The JCPRD's Activities catalog, with information and a registration form, is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. To register online and for updated program listings, visit the District's website at www.jcprd.com
