2014 season of Movies in the Park begins on June 10 with “Frozen”
POSTED: 05/21/2014
A trio of Disney films will be shown during two nights in June when the Movies in the Park program returns for a second year at the Johnson County Park & Recreation District’s The Theatre in the Park.

Through this program, a total of 16 films will be shown on a 40-foot screen on the theatre stage on 11 nights of the summer when musical productions are not scheduled. With the exception of a Monday screening on July 7, family favorite movies will run on every other Tuesday during the theatre’s regular season. Once the season ends on Aug. 9, the family-friendly films move to Saturdays and some classic films of more adult interest will be shown on each Tuesday night through August. All films will begin at 8:45 p.m. and the cost is $1 per person.

To kick off this year’s program, a sing-along version of “Frozen,” with on-screen lyrics with a magical bouncing snowflake to follow along, will be shown on June 10, and a double feature of “Cars” and the 1968 version of “The Love Bug” starring Dean Jones will be shown on June 24.

Other movie nights in the series include: a July 7 double feature of “Bolt” and the 1959 version of “The Shaggy Dog” starring Fred MacMurray; a July 22 triple feature of Iron Man 1, 2, & 3; an Aug. 5 showing of a special edition of “The Wizard of Oz;” an Aug. 12 showing of “When Harry Met Sally;” an Aug. 16 showing of “The Goonies;” an Aug. 19 showing of the “Easter Parade” starring Fred Astaire and Judy Garland; an Aug. 23 double feature of “Peter Pan” and “Cinderella;” an Aug. 26 showing of “Some Like It Hot” with Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon; and an Aug. 30 showing of “The Lego Movie.”
